FRATES ORDINIS PRÆDICATORUM Rome, 28 February, 2007Prot. : 50/07/226 - Bogotá 2007 - CommissioniTO ALL CAPITULARS OF THE GENERAL CHAPTER With this letter I am happy to enclose some information about the General Chapter of Bogotá (Colombia). This Chapter will begin on Wednesday July 18th, 2007, and it will conclude on Tuesday August 8th, 2007. The Capitulars are asked to be in Bogotá no later than Tuesday July 17th so that early that evening the dimissorial letters can be checked. For all practical information, please be in contact with the General Secretary of the Chapter. Enclosed is a list of the Capitulars which is accurate up to the date of this mailing. After receiving the responses of most of the Capitulars to my letter of May 24th, 2006 in which you were asked to express concerns to be addressed at the Chapter, the General Council proposes seven commissions be established for the work of the Chapter. I enclose a list of these commissions and also some possible suggestions/examples of topics which the commissions may wish to address. These are offered only in terms of possible themes which may be relevant to the work of the commissions. The themes for each commission are chosen in order to avoid too much overlap between the commissions. Enclosed also is a request for you to indicate your first, second and third preferences for commission participation. It is also important that you indicate the language(s) with which you would feel comfortable in working. I would be very grateful if you could forward this form to the Secretary General of the Order before April 28th, 2007. At the May meeting of the General Council, the council will begin to form the chapter commissions taking into account your preferences and your language(s). If a great number of capitulars indicate an interest in one commission, it may be divided into two different commissions each with a different focus. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferences, but it may be that some commissions will need your expertise even though such commissions may not be your first choice. I thank you for your kind attention to the details mentioned in this letter. I know that all of us are looking forward to the Chapter and want it to be both challenging and interesting. As our preparations move forward your continued co-operation is both needed and appreciated. Your brother in Saint Dominic,
Fr. Carlos A. Azpiroz Costa, OP Attached: Questionnaire to indicate your preferences for commission participation and language(s) List of commissions and possible themes
